A Huntingdon-man has won a nationwide competition to have the locks on his house upgraded to make them secure against lock-snapping attack – one of the most popular forms of forced entry in the UK.
Tom Jackson from Desborough Road, Hartford is a Neighbourhood & Homes Watch Network (NHWN) member won a competition that was open to all members of the Home Office and Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) supported crime prevention network.

Vital Information Missing from BBC Watchdog Programme on the Subject of Lock Snapping
You may have seen the episode of Watchdog Test House that aired on BBC One on Thursday 13th Mar 2014 (it was Episode 4). It dealt with the issue of lock snapping. Unfortunately there was some vital information that didn’t make the final cut which we believe is vital for the public to know in order to protect themselves against this method some criminals are using for breaking in to homes.

Avocet Hardware has called on the UK’s insurance industry to recognise lock-snapping as a means of forced entry and pass on premium savings to customers whose homes are secured with snap-proof locks.
